Our small family group (2 adults and 2 teenagers) had an AMAZING time with Dolomite Active. Our trip in the Dolomites is one of most memorable active family holidays!! 😁 We chose a multisport 7 day tour and experienced so many beautiful places, including Marmolada and Lake Garda. Our tour guides were all very professional, knowledgeable, but also kind, fun and customer oriented. They even arranged a hike instead of a via ferrata on one of the days. We really appreciate the personal service and can't wait to come back!! Thank you Dolomite Active team!!! 😁

Tour Itinerary
Your ski safari begins in Val di Sole, a picturesque valley in western Trentino that serves as the perfect base for the adventures ahead. Check into your comfortable 3-star hotel, collect your information pack with detailed route suggestions, maps, and local tips, and take some time to settle in.
Over the next 6 days, you will ski through 3 very different mountain ranges, 6 impressive ski areas, 3 beautiful valleys, and truly experience the impressive Brenta Dolomites and beyond.
The mountain air is crisp, the peaks are calling, and tomorrow the skiing begins.
Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Val di Sole

After a hearty breakfast, make your way to the Folgarida-Marilleva ski area, where 60 kilometers of varied slopes wind through alpine forests directly connected to Madonna di Campiglio. Spend the morning warming up on the well-groomed runs, perhaps starting with the scenic descents toward Commezzadura before venturing onto steeper terrain.
As the day progresses, head towards Madonna di Campiglio. You’ll arrive at one of Italy’s most elegant ski resorts, where the dramatic pale towers of the Brenta Dolomites rise like ancient fortresses above the slopes. Together, the interconnected Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area spans 150 kilometers – making it the largest ski domain in Trentino and offering virtually endless variety for exploration over the coming days.
Your route information will guide you to the ski-in mountain hut at 2,500 meters, where your room and a traditional dinner await.
Accommodation: Mountain hut at 2,500m

You have the full 150-kilometer Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area at your feet today. Your information pack suggests the best routes based on conditions and your ability level, but the day is entirely yours to explore.
The Grostè Pass area offers particularly scenic wide runs, while the Pradalago slopes provide quieter terrain perfect for building confidence. For a challenge, your information pack highlights a host of more difficult runs, including the 3-Tre slope on Canalone Miramonti – a demanding descent that drops straight into the heart of Madonna di Campiglio’s village center, offering spectacular views of the elegant resort below.
If time allows, head to Pinzolo and the scenic Doss del Sabion runs before returning to your mountain hut for another evening of alpine hospitality.
The Campiglio ski area has hosted alpine skiing since the early 1900s. The modern lift system now includes 62 lifts serving 156km of pistes, with runs ranging from gentle blue cruisers through the forests to steep black runs that challenge even expert skiers.
Accommodation: Mountain hut

This morning is yours to pass at Campiglio. Spend a final few hours on the slopes you’ve come to know, or venture to areas you haven’t yet explored – your route guide suggests several options based on your preferences.
By early afternoon, your scheduled private transfer arrives to carry you from the refined alpine elegance of Madonna di Campiglio to the rugged, high-altitude world of Passo Tonale. The journey itself is spectacular: pale dolomite pinnacles gradually give way to darker granite massifs and the gleaming white expanse of glaciated peaks. You’re crossing from one geological world to another, and the skiing tomorrow will reflect that dramatic shift.
Your mountain hut at the pass awaits – positioned in an intimate, sheltered spot with tomorrow’s glacier adventure looming magnificently above.
Accommodation: Mountain hut at Passo Tonale

Set your alarm early; today is one of the safari’s undisputed highlights. Watch the sunrise illuminate the Presena Glacier before taking the cable car to the summit at 3,000 meters. The panorama is extraordinary: the Adamello massif, Pian di Neve, and distant peaks stretching to the horizon.
The Presena Glacier is one of the few places in the Alps where you can ski well into late spring, with the season often extending into May. To protect this precious ice from climate change, the resort covers 100,000 square meters of glacier with reflective geotextile sheets each summer – one of Europe’s most ambitious glacier preservation projects.
The glacier offers multiple descent options. Your information pack details the classic routes, including the challenging Paradiso black run and the longer descent all the way to Ponte di Legno. With 100 kilometers of pistes to explore across the Ponte di Legno-Tonale area, you can tailor your day to match your energy and ambition, from gentle groomers to steep mogul fields.
Accommodation: Mountain hut

Another morning awaits on the Tonale slopes. The Passo dei Contrabbandieri area offers excellent intermediate-to-advanced terrain with views of Presanella, Trentino’s highest peak at 3,558 meters. The area’s name, ‘Smugglers’ Pass’, hints at its colorful history as a cross-border route between Italian and Austrian territories.
After lunch, your private transfer delivers you to an entirely different world: Pejo 3000, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park.
Pejo sits at 1,400 meters and is the highest permanently inhabited village in Trentino. The valley has been famous since the 1600s for its mineral-rich thermal waters, and today the Terme di Pejo spa offers the perfect après-ski complement to your days on the mountain. The ski area itself features just 20km of pistes, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in character – offering uncrowded runs through pristine wilderness.
Settle into your mountain hut and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before tomorrow’s grand finale.
Accommodation: Mountain hut at Pejo 3000

The final day of skiing – and it’s a memorable one! The modern Pejo 3000 cable car lifts you to 3,000 meters on the slopes of Monte Vioz, in the heart of the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range.
The Pejo 3000 cable car, inaugurated in 2011, is an engineering marvel – two 100-seat cabins that climb 1,000 vertical meters in just minutes. From the top station, you’re standing in the Stelvio National Park, which was established in 1935 as one of Italy’s first protected areas and remains its largest at over 134,000 hectares – roughly the size of Greater London.
From here, you’ll descend the legendary Val della Mite, an 8-kilometer run with a 1,600-meter vertical drop that winds through pristine national park scenery. Take your time on this final descent, savoring every turn through untouched snow and ancient larch forests. After reaching Pejo Fonti, a short transfer returns you to your base hotel in Val di Sole for a celebratory final dinner.
Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Val di Sole

After breakfast, your Val di Sole ski safari comes to an end. Depart at your leisure, carrying memories of legendary slopes, mountain hut hospitality, glacier descents, and the freedom of crafting your own adventure through some of the most spectacular terrain the Alps have to offer.
Arrivederci – until next time!

View TourThis tour is designed for intermediate skiers comfortable on red (medium) runs. More experienced skiers will be able to take advantage of a huge amount of challenging terrain and runs. Apart from skiing ability, you must be confident in navigating ski areas independently. You should be able to read piste maps and manage longer descents in varied conditions. Some days involve significant mileage, so a reasonable level of fitness is helpful.
Both tours follow the same itinerary and include the same accommodations, meals, transfers, and logistics. The difference is that on the self-guided safari, you ski independently rather than with a guide. You receive a comprehensive information pack with detailed route suggestions, maps, tips, and emergency contacts, plus 24-hour phone support. It’s ideal for intermediate to experienced skiers who prefer to explore at their own pace.
Yes. If you’d like the expertise of a local guide for specific days – perhaps for the glacier day or to explore off-piste terrain, this can be arranged as an optional extra. Contact us for pricing and availability.
You have 24-hour phone support throughout your trip. If you have any issues – whether you’re unsure of a route, running late to your hut accommodation, or need assistance – simply call the support line.
The information pack also includes clear maps and route descriptions for each day.
Yes, 3rd party insurance for all users of Alpine ski slopes is compulsory in Italy. You must have valid liability insurance that covers skiing.
This insurance is required to cover your civil liability for damages or injuries you accidentally cause to a third party or their property while skiing or snowboarding on the slopes.
Every person (skiers, snowboarders, telemarkers, and tobogganers) who uses the alpine slopes must have this insurance, regardless of age.
You can be fined and have your ski pass confiscated if found to be without insurance.
Important Note: It Only Covers the Other Person!
Remember that the compulsory Third-Party Liability insurance only covers the damages or injuries you accidentally cause to other people or their property.
For your own peace of mind and financial protection, you should always ensure you have a separate, comprehensive Winter Sports Travel Insurance policy that covers:
Your own medical expenses (which can be very high).
Mountain rescue and repatriation costs (including helicopter rescue).
Loss or theft of equipment (skis, board, etc).
Check Your Existing Travel Insurance
The most convenient way is to check your existing travel or winter sports policy. Confirm you have “Personal Liability” or “Third-Party Liability” coverage, and that the policy explicitly covers winter sports activities (skiing/snowboarding).
Always carry proof of your insurance with you on the slopes (a digital PDF on your phone or a small printed card) in case the ski patrol requests it. The proof should ideally state the type of coverage and the policy number.
OR
Request to purchase insurance with your ski pass when booking your trip.
The price is typically from €3.00 to €5.00 per person, per day.
OR
Buy a standalone Italian ski policy
If you don’t have existing travel insurance or your current policy doesn’t cover winter sports liability, you can buy a dedicated policy online before or during your trip.
Reputable options often offered by resorts include:
ITASNOW – Site available in EN, DE, and IT
Snowcare – Website is only available in IT
Absolutely. The terrain and transfers work well for snowboarders. Some mountain hut approaches may require short flat sections, but nothing that can’t be managed with a bit of push-boarding.
Italian rifugi (mountain huts) offer a unique and authentic alpine experience. Rooms are typically twin or dormitory style with shared bathroom facilities. Bedding is provided. While not luxury hotels, they offer warm hospitality, hearty traditional meals, and locations you simply cannot reach by road. It’s all part of the adventure.
Half board includes breakfast and dinner. Breakfasts are typically continental style with bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, and coffee. Dinners are hearty multi-course meals featuring traditional Trentino dishes like Canederli (bread dumplings), polenta, local meats, and dessert.
No. Your main luggage is transferred between accommodations, so you only need to carry a daypack with essentials (water, snacks, extra layers, sunscreen). Pack a small overnight bag with what you’ll need at the mountain huts.
In case of severe weather, contact our 24-hour support line for updated advice. The support center has up-to-date weather and lift operation information as well as hut accessibility and advice on next steps in adverse conditions.
The ski safari runs throughout the winter season, typically from early December to mid-April. January through March generally offers the most reliable snow conditions. The Presena Glacier often has skiable snow into late spring.
The nearest major airports are Verona (approximately 2 hours), Milan (approximately 3 hours), and Innsbruck (approximately 2.5 hours). Val di Sole is also accessible by train to Trento or Malè, followed by a local bus or taxi. Private transfers can be arranged as an optional extra.

Amazing!!
What a trip! From day one, everything ran so smoothly that we could just relax and enjoy ourselves. The guides were absolute pros and always thinking ahead so the group got the most out of each day. We had so many “wow” moments where you just have to stop and soak it all in. Great food, welcoming hotels, and a perfect balance of adventure and relax time. If you’re looking for a trip that’s easy, fun, and unforgettable, then I have no problem recommending Dolomites Active Tours.
Excellent organization! Everything was very well organised and we didn't have to think about a thing. We did the multisport (hiking, cycling and ferrata) over 7 days. There was a good mix of activity and downtime and we ate lots of delicious mountain foods. Hotels were very good, especially the smaller family run places. The mountain bikes and via ferrata equipment was all top notch. The guides were very professional. I highly recommend Dolomites Active Tours.
We have hiked a lot this last 3-4 years, but our memories of the Dolomites are the most special. We chose a self guided hiking trip in the Brenta Dolomites. The full nine day tour seemed too long, but we were able to modify our trip to a shorter 7 day version. Thanks to the team at Dolomites Active for helping with all our questions. We were given everything, including detailed route guidance and maps - it made the trip very stress free. As for the huts we stayed in 4 different places. Waking up each day to a different view and every evening we ate delicious local foods, washed down with Italian wine! The shared bedrooms and bathrooms are not so bad... I can only say it is by far better than camping! The Dolomites was so beautiful, we are desperate to go back, we hope it will be soon.
Justin has been so helpful in planning our Dolomites hiking tour, he was always there answering to all my questions, was nice to face time each other and talk about the tour rather than just over emails. I would definitely book future tour with Justin only, extremely the best customer service.
