Our small family group (2 adults and 2 teenagers) had an AMAZING time with Dolomite Active. Our trip in the Dolomites is one of most memorable active family holidays!! 😁 We chose a multisport 7 day tour and experienced so many beautiful places, including Marmolada and Lake Garda. Our tour guides were all very professional, knowledgeable, but also kind, fun and customer oriented. They even arranged a hike instead of a via ferrata on one of the days. We really appreciate the personal service and can't wait to come back!! Thank you Dolomite Active team!!! 😁

Tour Itinerary
Welcome to the Italian Dolomites. Your ski safari begins in Val di Sole, a picturesque valley in western Trentino. This ski safari will take you on a breathtaking adventure through three unique valleys and ranges of the far western Dolomites – Val di Sole, Val Rendena, and Val Camonica.
Each ski area has its own feel, culture, and unique environment to explore.
Check into your comfortable 3-star hotel and take some time to settle in. The first descents are still to come, but you’re already immersed in the true mountain atmosphere. Take in the crisp mountain air, enjoy a hearty dinner, and rest up – the adventure begins tomorrow.
Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Val di Sole

The ski safari begins. After breakfast, you’ll meet your guide, discuss the week ahead, answer any questions, and ensure all equipment is ready to go.
Next, you’ll head together to the Folgarida-Marilleva ski area, where 60 kilometers of varied slopes wind through dense alpine forests. This morning is about warming up your legs and finding your rhythm, with your guide selecting runs that suit the group’s ability – perhaps starting on the wide, sun-drenched cruisers toward Commezzadura before tackling something steeper.
As confidence builds, we’ll ski the connection to Madonna di Campiglio, arriving at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites – the only dolomitic mountain group west of the Adige River. These pale rock towers, formed from 200-million-year-old coral reefs beneath the ancient Tethys Ocean, create a stunning backdrop unlike anywhere else in the Alps.
We’ll end the day by skiing to our mountain hut at 2,500 meters, where a traditional dinner awaits under a canopy of stars.
Accommodation: Mountain hut at 2,500m (half board)

Wake to a high-altitude sunrise and a hearty mountain breakfast before clicking into your skis right outside the hut door. Today, we have the full 150 kilometers of the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area at our feet, the largest ski area in Trentino.
Your guide will lead us first to the Grostè Pass area, where wide, confidence-boosting runs offer spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. For those ready for a challenge, we’ll tackle the legendary 3-Tre slope on the Canalone Miramonti.
This iconic run was designed in 1940 by Bruno Detassis, the celebrated mountaineer known as the ‘Lord of the Brenta.’ It hosted Italy’s very first World Cup race in 1967 and has seen victories from skiing legends including Ingemar Stenmark, Alberto Tomba, and Marcel Hirscher. Now it’s your turn to carve your own lines down this piece of skiing history.
If time allows, we’ll venture to the Pinzolo side and the scenic Doss del Sabion slopes before returning to another cozy mountain hut for the night.
Accommodation: Mountain hut (half board)

This morning offers a few more hours to explore the Madonna di Campiglio area. Perhaps we’ll revisit a favorite run from yesterday, or your guide might suggest the Pradalago slopes for a change of scenery – rolling terrain with sweeping views across the valley.
In the mid-afternoon, a private transfer whisks us from the elegant streets of Campiglio to the high alpine pass of Passo Tonale. The landscape transforms dramatically as we leave the dolomite spires behind and enter the realm of glaciers and granite. Our mountain hut tonight sits in a quiet, evocative setting surrounded by high-altitude alpine scenery – the perfect preparation for tomorrow’s glacier adventure.
Accommodation: Mountain hut at Passo Tonale (half board)

Today is one of the highlights of the safari. We wake early to catch the sunrise painting the Presena Glacier in shades of gold and pink. After breakfast, we take the cable car to the glacier summit at 3,000 meters, where the panorama stretches across the Adamello massif, Pian di Neve, and all the way to the distant Brenta peaks.
From here, we tackle the legendary Paradiso black run, 3 kilometers of thrilling terrain with a 700-meter vertical drop, ranked among Italy’s top 10 ski descents. For those wanting more, we can link runs all the way from the glacier summit to Ponte di Legno – an incredible 11 kilometers of continuous skiing with 1,800 meters of vertical drop, one of the longest descents in Europe.
We’ll spend the full day exploring the Ponte di Legno-Tonale ski area, with its varied terrain ranging from sunny groomers to more challenging runs. Your guide knows all the best spots, including where to find the finest mountain lunch with views!
Accommodation: Mountain hut (half board)

Another morning on the Tonale slopes awaits. We’ll focus on the Passo dei Contrabbandieri area, where medium-to-challenging runs offer views of Presanella, Trentino’s highest peak at 3,558 meters. The name ‘Smugglers’ Pass’ hints at the area’s history as a cross-border route, and your guide will share tales of the region’s colorful past.
After lunch, a short private transfer takes us to Pejo 3000, entering an entirely different world. This is the heart of the Stelvio National Park, Italy’s largest national park, established in 1935 and spanning over 134,000 hectares of protected wilderness.
Pejo 3000 is the world’s first plastic-free ski resort, committed to preserving the pristine environment you’ll ski through tomorrow. The area offers a refreshingly uncrowded, authentic mountain experience far from the bustle of larger resorts.
Tonight’s mountain hut offers the perfect setting to recharge before the final day of skiing.
Accommodation: Mountain hut at Pejo 3000 (half board)

The final day of skiing, and what a way to finish. The modern Pejo 3000 cable car lifts us to 3,000 meters on the slopes of Monte Vioz, right in the heart of the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range.
From here, we descend the legendary Val della Mite – an exhilarating 8-kilometer run with a 1,600-meter vertical drop that winds through the stunning scenery of the Stelvio National Park. Keep your eyes open for wildlife; the park is home to over 180 species, including deer, chamois, alpine ibex, and golden eagles soaring overhead.
We’ll take our time on this final descent, savoring every turn through pristine snow and drinking in views of glaciated peaks and ancient larch forests. After reaching Pejo Fonti, a short transfer returns us to our base hotel in Val di Sole for a farewell dinner, where the table talk will be all about unforgettable descents and the magic of a true ski safari.
Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Val di Sole (half board)

After breakfast, it’s time to say arrivederci to Val di Sole. Depart at your leisure, taking with you memories of three mountain ranges, legendary slopes, mountain hut hospitality, and some of the most spectacular skiing the Alps has to offer.
Until next time!

Yes, 3rd party insurance for all users of Alpine ski slopes is compulsory in Italy. You must have valid liability insurance that covers skiing.
This insurance is required to cover your civil liability for damages or injuries you accidentally cause to a third party or their property while skiing or snowboarding on the slopes.
Every person (skiers, snowboarders, telemarkers, and tobogganers) who uses the alpine slopes must have this insurance, regardless of age.
You can be fined and have your ski pass confiscated if found to be without insurance.
Important Note: It Only Covers the Other Person!
Remember that the compulsory Third-Party Liability insurance only covers the damages or injuries you accidentally cause to other people or their property.
For your own peace of mind and financial protection, you should always ensure you have a separate, comprehensive Winter Sports Travel Insurance policy that covers:
Your own medical expenses (which can be very high).
Mountain rescue and repatriation costs (including helicopter rescue).
Loss or theft of equipment (skis, board, etc.).
Check Your Existing Travel Insurance
The most convenient way is to check your existing travel or winter sports policy. Confirm you have “Personal Liability” or “Third-Party Liability” coverage, and that the policy explicitly covers winter sports activities (skiing/snowboarding).
Always carry proof of your insurance with you on the slopes (a digital PDF on your phone or a small printed card) in case the ski patrol requests it. The proof should ideally state the type of coverage and the policy number.
OR
Request to purchase insurance with your ski pass when booking your trip.
The price is typically from €3.00 to €5.00 per person, per day.
OR
Buy a standalone Italian ski policy
If you don’t have existing travel insurance or your current policy doesn’t cover winter sports liability, you can buy a dedicated policy online before or during your trip.
Reputable options often offered by resorts include:
ITASNOW – Site available in EN, DE, and IT
Snowcare – Website is only available in IT
This tour is designed for intermediate skiers who are comfortable on red (medium) runs. You should be able to ski confidently in varied conditions and manage longer descents. A reasonable level of fitness is also helpful. Your guide will adapt routes to suit the group’s ability.
Absolutely. The terrain and transfers work well for snowboarders, and your guide can tailor route choices to suit. Some mountain hut approaches may require short flat sections, but nothing that can’t be managed with a bit of poling or skating.
Italian rifugi (mountain huts) offer a unique and authentic alpine experience. For this ski safari, rooms are typically double with shared bathroom facilities. Bedding is provided. While not luxury hotels, they offer warm hospitality, hearty traditional meals, and locations you simply cannot reach by road. It’s all part of the adventure.
Half board includes breakfast and dinner. Breakfasts are typically continental style with bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, and coffee. Dinners are hearty multi-course meals featuring traditional Trentino dishes like Canederli (bread dumplings), polenta, local meats, and dessert.
No. Your main luggage is transferred between accommodations, so you only need to carry a daypack with essentials (water, snacks, extra layers, sunscreen). Pack a small overnight bag with what you’ll need at the mountain huts.
The program may be adjusted at the discretion of your guide based on weather conditions and snow levels. Safety is always the priority. Alternative activities or routes may be arranged to ensure you still have a memorable experience, while maintaining the overall structure and aims of the safari.
The nearest major airports are Verona (approximately 2 hours), Milan (approximately 3 hours), and Innsbruck (approximately 2.5 hours). Val di Sole is also accessible by train to Trento or Malè, followed by a local bus or taxi.
Private transfers can be arranged as an optional extra.
What To Expect
Picture this: you’re standing at 3,000 meters on the Presena Glacier, your guide beside you, the Adamello massif stretched out in front of you, and the next 11 kilometers of pristine piste waiting below. This is just a part of the Val di Sole & Three Peaks Guided Ski Safari – a week-long journey through three of the Italian Alps’ most spectacular mountain ranges, with an expert local guide leading the way.
Val di Sole sits at a remarkable geographic crossroads, where the ancient dolomite spires of the Brenta Dolomites meet the granite giants of the Adamello-Presanella and the glaciated peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale. This unique position grants access to over 270 kilometers of interconnected ski terrain, each area offering a completely different alpine character.
Together with your guide, we’ll journey from the world-famous slopes of Madonna di Campiglio, where the Brenta Dolomites form a dramatic amphitheater of pale rock towers, to the high-altitude glaciers of Passo Tonale and the tranquil wilderness of Pejo 3000 in the Stelvio National Park. Each day brings new terrain, new views, and new adventures, while your guide ensures you find the best snow, the quietest runs, and perhaps even some safe off-piste powder when conditions allow.
But this safari isn’t just about the skiing. Four nights are spent in traditional mountain huts perched at high altitude, where evenings mean steaming plates of Canederli (Tyrolean bread dumplings), rich polenta, and local wines, all enjoyed in the warm glow of a rifugio dining room with panoramic views of snow-covered peaks. It’s the authentic heart of a Dolomites winter, experienced without any of the logistical headaches.
From your first run on the scenic slopes of Folgarida-Marilleva to the final exhilarating descent down the Val della Mite, every detail is handled. All you need to do is clip in, follow your guide, and soak in some of the most breathtaking ski terrain Europe has to offer.

Amazing!!
What a trip! From day one, everything ran so smoothly that we could just relax and enjoy ourselves. The guides were absolute pros and always thinking ahead so the group got the most out of each day. We had so many “wow” moments where you just have to stop and soak it all in. Great food, welcoming hotels, and a perfect balance of adventure and relax time. If you’re looking for a trip that’s easy, fun, and unforgettable, then I have no problem recommending Dolomites Active Tours.
Excellent organization! Everything was very well organised and we didn't have to think about a thing. We did the multisport (hiking, cycling and ferrata) over 7 days. There was a good mix of activity and downtime and we ate lots of delicious mountain foods. Hotels were very good, especially the smaller family run places. The mountain bikes and via ferrata equipment was all top notch. The guides were very professional. I highly recommend Dolomites Active Tours.
We have hiked a lot this last 3-4 years, but our memories of the Dolomites are the most special. We chose a self guided hiking trip in the Brenta Dolomites. The full nine day tour seemed too long, but we were able to modify our trip to a shorter 7 day version. Thanks to the team at Dolomites Active for helping with all our questions. We were given everything, including detailed route guidance and maps - it made the trip very stress free. As for the huts we stayed in 4 different places. Waking up each day to a different view and every evening we ate delicious local foods, washed down with Italian wine! The shared bedrooms and bathrooms are not so bad... I can only say it is by far better than camping! The Dolomites was so beautiful, we are desperate to go back, we hope it will be soon.
Justin has been so helpful in planning our Dolomites hiking tour, he was always there answering to all my questions, was nice to face time each other and talk about the tour rather than just over emails. I would definitely book future tour with Justin only, extremely the best customer service.
